Mollie
Two Minute Billing charges cards, SEPA Direct Debit and PayPal through your Mollie account. The customer pays once on Mollie's page, and that first payment creates the mandate Two Minute Billing charges each renewal against. You keep your Mollie rates, and Mollie pays out to your bank as usual.
Before you start
- A Mollie account. Mollie gives you two API keys: a test key that starts with
test_and a live key that starts withlive_. Connect the test key to a test business and the live key to a live business. - Activate in Mollie the payment methods you want to offer. Pay now also offers every other method that you activate in Mollie.
- You need permission to manage payment gateways in Two Minute Billing. The owner and admin roles have it.
Find your API keys
In the Mollie Dashboard, open Developers → API keys.

You need one value:
| Field | Where to find it | Looks like |
|---|---|---|
| API key | Mollie Dashboard → Developers → API keys. Use the test_ key for a test business and the live_ key for a live business. | live_… |
Permissions
test_… or live_…). It can do everything on that
profile, so there is nothing to select. An organization access token (access_…) does not work.- Recurring payment methods. Turn on the methods you want to charge again, for example cards and SEPA Direct Debit, on the profile in Mollie. Check credentials shows how many recurring methods are active.
- Recurring PayPal through Mollie needs PayPal reference transactions on your PayPal account.
- Webhook: no permission is necessary. Two Minute Billing sends the notification URL with each payment.
Connect it in Two Minute Billing
- Open Settings → Payment gateways and click Add gateway.
- Select Mollie and paste the API key.
- Select the currencies and the payment methods this account handles.
- Click Create gateway account.
Then open the account and click Check credentials. Healthy means Mollie accepted the key.
The payment methods you can turn on for Mollie:
- Cards — Also Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Direct Debit (SEPA) — EUR only. The payer sets it up with iDEAL, Bancontact, Belfius, KBC, EPS or Pay by Bank and pays EUR 0.01. The debit settles asynchronously.
- PayPal — Automatic payments need PayPal Reference Transactions on your PayPal business account.
Currencies
Two Minute Billing offers these 27 currencies on Mollie:
AED, AUD, BRL, CAD, CHF, CZK, DKK, EUR, GBP, HKD, ILS, ISK, JPY, MXN, MYR, NOK, NZD, PHP, PLN, RON, RUB, SEK, SGD, THB, UAH, USD, ZAR
Each payment method takes a subset of these. BRL, MXN, MYR and THB are for PayPal only.
Some payment methods take one currency only:
| Payment method | Currency |
|---|---|
| Direct Debit (SEPA) | EUR |
If you leave Currencies empty on the gateway account, the account takes each currency of your business that is on this list.
Webhooks
Mollie tells Two Minute Billing when a payment changes status: a renewal that is paid or fails, a SEPA debit that settles days later, a refund, a chargeback.
Nothing to set up. Two Minute Billing sends the notification URL to Mollie with each payment.
Two Minute Billing reads each payment back from Mollie with your API key. You do not need a webhook secret.
Test it
In your test business, create a customer and save a card for it. On Mollie's test payment page,
enter the test card 4543 4740 0224 9996 with any expiry date and any CVC, and complete the
payment. Collect an invoice: it is marked paid when Mollie reports the payment, and Logs
shows the call to Mollie and Mollie's answer.
Go live
- In Mollie, make sure the payment methods you turn on are activated for live payments.
- Copy the live API key (
live_…) from Developers → API keys. - In your live business, add Mollie with that key.
Troubleshoot
- Check credentials says "We could not check the credentials." with "This is a live business,
so the Mollie API key must start with live_." The key belongs to the other mode. Paste the
key that matches the business:
live_…for a live business,test_…for a test business. - A SEPA debit stays pending. SEPA debits take days to settle. Two Minute Billing marks the invoice paid when Mollie reports the debit paid.
- A customer cannot set up automatic PayPal payments. Mollie needs PayPal Reference Transactions on your PayPal business account for that.
- A dispute stays open after the chargeback is decided. Mollie does not send the outcome. Record it with Mark as won or Mark as lost in Disputes.
