# Delete a subscription

> Any status; invoices and payments are kept.

Removes the subscription from the account. Allowed in any status, and it is NOT a cancellation: no cancellation is recorded, no final invoice is raised and no credit is issued, so deleting an active subscription simply stops billing it. To close the term out properly, cancel it instead. Everything it produced is kept and stays on the customer — invoices, payments and their ledger entries — and an unpaid invoice remains payable and stays in dunning. Reads of a deleted subscription return 404 and it no longer appears in lists.
