# Reason Codes

> The list an operator picks from when cancelling, refunding or writing something off.

The list an operator picks from when cancelling, refunding or writing something off. Recording a stable code rather than free prose is what makes churn and refund reporting groupable — "too expensive" typed five different ways counts as five reasons.

Lists are per business and per action, so a cancellation reason set is separate from a refund one.
