# Override every rule that produces one canonical code

> The SECOND level.

<api-operation method="PATCH" path="/v1/businesses/{biz}/decline_codes/{code}">
<template v-slot:docs="">

A code-level setting reaches every rule meaning the same thing — including the codes no rule names — but does NOT touch a rule that has its own setting, because the narrower one wins. Separate paths from `decline_rules` on purpose: a rule id and a canonical code are different namespaces, and collapsing them would let a typo in one silently address the other.
