# Top up a customer wallet

> Paid charges the card; granted is promotional.

A `paid` top-up on a payment method whose bank must get advance notice of each debit (e-mandates on some gateways) is not charged at once: we send the notice and answer 400 with `error.retry_after`. Send the same amount again after that time to charge it.
